Lost boys and fairies
9pm, BBC One
Adoption is a long and difficult road for most people who attempt it. For a same-sex couple, one of whom barely conceals some deep trauma, it’s longer and even harder. Duff James’ candid and somewhat autobiographical drama follows Daniel Young’s Sion artist, Gabriel, and his partner, an accountant named Andy (Fra Fe), as they begin the process. It’s funny, emotionally poignant and at times heartbreaking – especially when they arrive at an activity day and are presented with a brochure of children, each innocent face hiding a tragic story. It soon becomes clear that the trial is a full-on, skeleton-exposing personality audit with the highest stakes imaginable. Phil Harrison
22:00, Channel 4
