Toxic canister find near Cape Capricorn in Queensland prompts warning to beachgoers

A toxic container washed ashore Queenslandwhich led to an emergency alert from the authorities.
Police told beachgoers not to touch the silver aluminum cans after one was washed up near Cape Capricorn off Gladstone on Wednesday.
It was discovered and removed by water police patrolling off Curtis Island.
The canister is about 30 cm long and 15 cm in diameter.
Police said they contained a “toxic chemical that could be harmful if handled.”
“Do not attempt to move or open these boxes,” police said in a warning Friday.
Anyone who finds a silver container or similar type of aluminum container is urged to call Triple-0 immediately.
