In those sepia-stained years, Debra and Martin Robinson sent their two boys away PerthSacred Heart College, hoping that the school will play a role in making teenagers’ dreams come true.

Yesterday, parents returned to school after living through their worst nightmare.

Because the visit was not to talk about dreams coming true, but to pay a tearful tribute to the sons they are so proud of.

Perth brothers Jake and Callum Robinson were said goodbye in a heartbreaking private memorial on Saturday, where they were remembered by their grieving parents, family and childhood friends.

six weeks ago the men were shot dead, along with their American friend Jack Road, while on a surfing trip in Mexico.

Hundreds gathered at Sorrento College, where the brothers attended high school, on Saturday afternoon to remember the fun-loving couple whose lives were tragically cut short in a botched robbery.

Those unable to fit into the college theater watched the private event on screens in other parts of the school grounds.

Dozens more who couldn’t make it to Sorrento got a link to watch from home, interstate or overseas. Mrs and Mr Robinson were joined by around 800 people at the school to say goodbye to their boys.

“It’s hard to describe the feeling when your grown children come and visit you until it’s gone,” Ms Robinson said.

“They loved life and followed their dreams.

“They were intelligent, honorable men who had much more to offer the world.”

And what they offered the world seemed full of joy – as if they were living their short lives forever young.

The cover of a memorial pamphlet was emblazoned with the phrase “LIVE LOUDER, SHINE BRIGHTER, LOVE STRONGER.”

And judging by the photos shown at the service, the siblings certainly lived up to that phrase, appearing to do so with permanent smiles flashing across their faces.

Callum, 32, was a lacrosse star who represented Australia and played professionally in the US, where he was known as ‘The Big Koala’.

Jake, 31, was a doctor about to start a new job at a hospital in Geelong and was also keen on surfing and travelling.

With deep breaths and trembling voices, the grieving parents described how their two sons radiated “pure love”.

“We love that Jake was curious, kind and happy – and never judgmental,” Ms Robinson said.

“Callum has always made a conscious decision to wake up and be positive every day. He saw so much fun in life.

“We love that they loved every single dog in the world.”

In lighter moments, childhood friends Adam Moore and Simon Moore shared anecdotes about their friendship with the brothers. Adam spoke of the couple’s endless exuberant energy and their ability to “excel in any sport you can imagine,” whether it’s T-ball, surf club, footy or lacrosse.

“All they wanted to do was get bigger, stronger and better at whatever they were involved in,” Adam said.

And Simon recounted their surfing adventures over the years, often involving an intense interrogation with the boys’ father ‘Marty’ at the local McDonald’s, accompanied by chocolate Melbies.

Toward the end of the memorial, Ms. Robinson addressed the audience, saying that she and Mr. Robinson hoped everyone would “find their own way to honor them in the way they live their lives.”

“We miss you beyond words. Calum and Jakey boy please enlighten us.

The brothers and their friend Jack were allegedly robbed for their car tires and killed while camping in the Ensenada region of Mexico.

They had been surfing and were last seen alive on April 27.

Mrs. and Mr. Robinson traveled to the other side of the world after their sons’ bodies were pulled from a 15-meter-deep well in La Bocana, Santo Tomas district.

Authorities confirmed the trio were killed after trying to de-escalate the situation when thieves stalked them to steal the tires of the pick-up truck they were driving.

A member of the Sinaloa cartel has since claimed that the men accused of carrying out the robbery – Jesus Gerardo García Cota and his brother Cristian Alejandro García – were not part of the criminal organization.

In court in Ensenada, prosecutors said Jesus drove his girlfriend’s car to the area where Robinson and Jack were camping sometime between the afternoon of Saturday, April 27, and Sunday morning, ambushing the trio.

The girlfriend of one of the alleged killers – Ari Giesel Garcia Cota – was first arrested by authorities after she was found in possession of one of their mobile phones.

Her partner Jesus and his brother Christian were arrested soon after. Jesus has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, which is expected to be upgraded to murder.

He will remain in custody until November, when he is due to appear in court.

After her arrest, Ms Garcia Cota revealed what she knew about the men’s disappearance and has since been described as a key witness in the case helping the authorities.

The attorney general said investigators were confident more than three people were involved and did not rule out the possibility that more people could be charged.
