Four taken to hospital after fairground ride fails in south London | London

Four people, including an 11-year-old girl, have been taken to hospital after a fairground ride broke down at an event in London on Saturday, police said.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park at around 6.20pm.
The four people taken to hospital are a man and woman in their 40s, a man in their 50s and an 11-year-old girl.
Police said none of the injuries were life-threatening and that they were awaiting full medical examinations.
The Met Police said: “Emergency services responded at around 6.20pm on Saturday to a failed fairground ride at the Lambeth Show in Brockwell Park.
“Four people were taken to hospital. No one is trapped during the journey.
The force added: “Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.
Cordons have been placed at the site. The Health and Safety Executive will be informed.’
A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said it had sent multiple resources to the scene, including four ambulance crews and members of the Hazardous Area Response Team, as well as dispatching the London Air Ambulance.
The spokesman added that paramedics treated four people at the scene and took them to major trauma centres.
A spokesman for Lambeth council in south London said: “The incident was reported at around 6.20pm today (June 8) and emergency services were quickly on the scene to help four people who were injured.
“Paramedics and on-site teams have cordoned off the area and the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The situation is being closely monitored. The area around the attraction is secured and the fair is closed.
“A thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the malfunction. Additional safety checks are carried out on all rides and attractions of the show.
“We thank the emergency services for their quick response and dedication. The safety and well-being of our visitors remains our top priority.”
Helen Hayes, Labor MP for Dulwich and West Norwood and shadow minister for children and early years, called for an urgent inquiry.
Hayes wrote to X: “Shocked to learn of the failure of a fairground walk at Lambeth Country Show earlier this evening.
“My thoughts are with those who were injured and all who witnessed this horrific event.
“Thank you to the emergency services who attended. There must now be an urgent investigation.
