Nick Taylor will attempt to make history once again as he looks to defend his Canadian Open title this weekend.
An epic 72-foot putt in the playoff saw Taylor win last year’s title over Tommy Fleetwood, a shot that made him the first Canadian to win the event since Pat Fletcher in 1954.
Taylor’s victory last year ended Rory McIlroy’s two-match winning streak and the Irish star is widely backed by the bookies to return to winning ways at this tournament alongside last year’s runner-up Fleetwood.

How to watch Canadian Open 2024 online from anywhere using VPN
If you find you can’t watch the tournament locally, you may need a different way to watch – this is where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from throttling your speeds by encrypting your traffic, and it’s also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network and want to add an extra layer of the privacy of your devices and logins.
With a VPN, you can virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to access the tournament. So if your ISP or mobile operator has assigned you an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct non-blackout zone. Most VPNs, like ours Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPNmake this really easy.
Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Canada, as long as you have a legal subscription to the service you’re streaming. You need to make sure your VPN is set up properly to prevent leaks: Even when VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone they believe is circumventing properly enforced termination restrictions.

It’s normally $13 per month, but you can sign up for an annual ExpressVPN subscription and get three months free for $100 – the equivalent of $6.67 per month and a savings of 49%.
Note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Stream Canadian Open 2024 live in USA
Linear television coverage in the US is split between The Golf Channel and CBS. The Peacock streaming service also boasts the same coverage as The Golf Channel, while Paramount Plus will offer streams of CBS coverage of the final stages of the tournament.
For more comprehensive access, live coverage of the PGA Tour runs Thursday through Sunday on ESPN Plus, offering feeds of main action, bracket groups, featured groups and select-hole coverage.
CBS is showing the later parts of the final two rounds over the weekend, which in turn means you’ll be able to stream that coverage via Paramount Plus.
Paramount Plus has two main subscription plans in the US: Essential for $6 per month and Premium for $12 per month. Both offer coverage of the 2024 Canadian Open.
The cheaper Essential option has ads for on-demand streaming. It also lacks live CBS feeds and the ability to download shows to watch offline later. Newcomers can take advantage of a 30-day free trial, while students can qualify for a 25% discount. Black Friday savings are also still available, but we don’t know for how long.

Peacock offers two Premium plans. The ad-supported premium plan costs $6 per month and the ad-free premium plan costs $12 per month. You can use any Premium plan to watch the tournament.

Quick tips for streaming the Canadian Open 2024 using a VPN
- With four variables at play—your ISP, browser, video streaming provider, and VPN—your streaming experience and success may vary.
- If you don’t see the location you want as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search by city or country” option.
- If you’re having trouble getting the tournament after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address registered to your account. Second, some smart TVs – like Roku – don’t have VPN apps that you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll need to install a VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that every device on its Wi-Fi network is now displayed in the correct viewing location.
- All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing a VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install the sports app on a cable network, you will be asked to confirm a numeric code or click on a link sent to your email address in a file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help as both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
- And remember, browsers can often give away location despite using a VPN, so make sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to access their services. We usually recommend brave.
