De Goey was last seen in Round 7 during the Pies’ epic draw with Essendon but hasn’t featured since.

There were later reports that he was struggling with osteitis pubis (inflammation between the left and right pubic bones, which causes pain and loss of strength and could potentially be problematic for months), but Collingwood refused to confirm that suspicion.

7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary revealed De Gowey visited medics at the MSAC (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) at Albert Park on Wednesday (today).

It was an off day for Collingwood’s players, but de Gowey was there to get some extra work on his ‘problem’ groin.

“De Gowey will need to get through the main training session tomorrow and prove that he has regained his explosiveness to face the Crows on Saturday,” Cleary said.

Cleary also revealed that De Gowey completed a 10km session last weekend.

The Pies are dealing with a bit of an injury crisis with Jamie Elliott (vascular), Jeremy Howe (groin) and Brodie Michocek (hamstring) sidelined.

They were also missing Tom Mitchell (appendix) and Bo McCreary (concussion) last week.

After a sluggish start to the season, the reigning premiers clawed their way back into the top 8 on Sunday after beating West Coast at Marvel Stadium.

They desperately need to get De Goey fit and fired.

He is averaging just under 22 disposals this season and his disposal efficiency is a career low of 58.2%.
