Two accused teenage thieves had nowhere to hide after they allegedly stole a scooter fitted with a hidden tracking device in Adelaide.

Police said a teenage girl and her co-accused stole the bike from Frome Road in the town just before 6pm last night, but their escape was doomed from the start thanks to an Apple Airtag.

The owner of the scooter tracked the scooter to Main North Road in Parafield and then through the back streets of Pooraka.

They provided live updates of police swooping in and arresting the teenage duo on Duffield Drive.

Police said during their failed getaway, they also led officers to two other allegedly stolen motorcycles at a home on nearby Sandow Avenue.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft.

Tech experts said electronic tracking tags could be invaluable, especially when criminals break through old security methods.

“It will tell you where everything you have is, put an Airtag on it, you can always find it with your iPhone,” said expert Richard Pascoe.

Samsung and Android phones also have their own versions of Airtags.
