2025 BMW M2: Australian timing, details locked in

[ad_1]

Australian arrivals on the updated 2025 BMW M2 should begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with local pricing to be announced in July.

BMW revealed its facelifted M2 earlier today, which received minor cosmetic tweaks and a power boost for quicker acceleration.

The BMW M2 now produces 353kW (15kW more than before and is now equal to the manual M3 and M4) from its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

Eight-speed automatics have gained 50Nm of torque, now sending 600Nm to the rear wheels, although six-speed manual M2s will continue with an unchanged 550Nm.

Both transmissions are confirmed to remain in the Australian range, where both are currently priced at $121,700 before on-road costs.

The increase in power and torque results in 0.1 seconds off the M2’s 0-100km/h time, with the automatic specimens now completing the sprint in 4.0 seconds, while the manual takes 4.2 seconds.

Regardless of the transmission fitted, the more powerful M2 is 0.6 seconds quicker to reach 200 km/h from a standstill, doing so in 12.9 seconds for the automatic gearbox and 13.7 seconds for the manual transmission.

The BMW M2 is now available to order with silver, black or black alloy wheels, in addition to a range of new paint finishes including Sao Paulo Yellow, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic and Skyscraper Gray metallic.

More BMW Individual finishes have also been added to the M2’s palette, including Java Green, Voodoo Blue, Grigio Telesto and Twilight Purple.

Inside the cabin, a new leather-trimmed flat-bottom steering wheel with revised spokes and central 12 o’clock marker headlines the changes, paired with Vernasca leather upholstery (now available in red and black) or the optional M Carbon bucket seats.

Like the 2 Series on which it is based, the M2’s infotainment system and digital instrument cluster now run BMW Operating System 8.5 software.

There are also new controls to adjust the vent grilles in the center, on the driver’s and passenger’s sides.

Australian examples continue to be fitted with BMW’s M carbon interior trim as standard.

The 2025 BMW M2 should be in Australian showrooms between October and December 2024.
